Hello all,

First of all ,thanks for good work on the android version. I just installed on my apad with android 2.1. Now I have to decide which application is more suitable for me. So i have 3 questions:

1) I wonder why i can practise my writing on it? I have tried the different trainning modes, but any of them let me practise my writing, for example, showing me a letter in english, and then i should write the Chinese Character on the screen, and then the application would recognise whether I wrote it right or wrongly.

2) I am also interested in knowing wheter I can make my own list, I usually should add 50 worda per units, and the course I am studying has 1 units. And I would like to have the option to choose the unit or units i would like to train when i use my apad.

3) is the algorithm who show you the list "intelligent"? I mean, does the trainning mode have into account the previous trainning sessions, I mean, whether you did right or wrong on the different characters so the application will show you more times the ones you have to practise more, and less the ones you know better?

Thanks in advance!

You can perfectly practice your writing, actually we are featuring a unique way by allowing you to compare stroke by stroke what you wrote and how it should be - and this of course character by chararcter!
To check it out,  you need to be in the Dictation mode (that is the phone will dictate a word) after writing each of the characters you just need to press the orange button to reveal the card and to compare each of the characters which you wrote.

Regarding the selection of words, You can select words form the provided dictionary to add them to your own list(s) or directly to the deck of flashcards.

The algorithm is intelligent and will consider if you have learned one aspect of the word (for example the reading) but did not finish another (for example writing) then only the one which has not finished will be shown again.  On the other hand the algorithm will consider your settings, that is it will repeat the leaning process according to the time interval you have defined and the number of times you decided - this is quite useful as not every person has the same way of learning.

Finally the system has a powerful statistics which even will show you the number of characters you have learned - so at the end you will have a perfect overview on what you know.

I too practice writing characters, but would much prefer having the English to translate rather than the pinyin. Is this possible?

klaus lautet:
The main problem is that in general the Chinese words consist of several characters, and as it is necessary to separate each of them the only reasonable way is to base it in the pinyin.

On the other hand we know that pinyin sounds may not be unique (several characters could be associated with the same pinyin), but it is always possible to hear the complete word (which typically will help to ensure the right characters are chosen) and on the other side think that the user will select the right charterers based on the group of cards he is learning.
