Deleting all cards and inputting your own words

You currently have 76cards on your account. You need to delete them
- you can either delete them on the application of your phone (need to go one by one)
- or by deleting them on the website (content - your flashcards).

If you delete them on your phone you need to "Update Cards" ! That way the cards will be removed from your account on the server (the server needs to receive the data that they were removed). Just by resetting the account on your phone the cards still will remain on the server and will be loaded again when you Update cards. So delete them, then Update Cards and then you can add any cards you like.

After deleting the cards - they will not appear on your account any more even if you Update cards again.

The \"Update Cards\"  function will ensure that the cards you deleted are also deleted from your account and will not add any automatic cards (because your minimum number of desired cards is 0). So please Update Cards after (or before) deleting cards, and then add your own cards as you desire.

The Update Cards function is necessary to ensure that the server keeps a back up of the cards on the device. It also keeps the information on how you progress on learning those cards and most important it is the way the system will wake up cards which have been learned once to repeat the learning process (using spaced repetition).  Therefore we recommend to Update Cards regularly - best every 2-3 days.

If the Update Cards function was not performed for at least once every three weeks then the device will not accept new cards unless an Update Cards is performed.

I understand that but how do I add my own flashcards without any flashcards that trainchinese has chosen for me? I reset my account so that I have 0 flashcards, then I try to add new words from the dictionary that I need but it asks me to \"connect and update\" before I can add my own words, which in turn adds 76 flashcards from trainchinese even though my settings is set at 0 number of cards to update. How do I add my own cards without any from trainchinese?

You need to create your own lists. This can be done in your content area. Then, when you go to "My cards" you can sort by list. Click that link and choose the list you created. This will ensure that only those cards from that list are added. I had lists that included 50-75 characters however I now try to limit my lists to 15-25. The reason for this is that when you set a limit, it is a MINIMUM limit. The program will ensure that you have at least that many cards. There is no way, as far as I know, to set a maximum. You can however control the cards included by filtering by list.
