状况 and 情况 are largely interchangeable, except for if it's generic, 情况 is more often used. For example, we tend to use 情况 in these examples when the reference is general:
- 情况很严重吗? Is the situation very serious?
- 多数情况下 in most cases

状况 (zhuàngkuàng) can be used to refer to the condition, status, situation, or state of affairs of something. For example, one might say: 我们的状况 (wǒmen de zhuàngkuàng) 是很好的 (shì hěn hǎo de) - "Our condition/status/situation/state of affairs is very good."
