Hi, Thank you for the comment!
We have updated the translations for these three words in our dictionary and added more examples. Please take a look! Updates are available online on our website, they will appear in the app with the next update.
- 尺寸 [chi3 cun4] , (n) size, dimension, measurement, measure; (informal) sense of propriety, proper limits for speech or action
- 尺码 [chi3 ma3] , (n) size, measures; standard, yardstick
- 大小 [da4 xiao3], (n) size; big or small; (n/adv) seniority, status, adults and children; anyhow, nevertheless
In short, 尺寸 is usually about the length of something. 尺码 is about a set of standardized sizes of clothes, e.g. Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, etc. Or for shoes, in Asia and in Europe, shoe sizes (尺码) are different but standardized. People usually mix these up 尺寸 and 尺码 and use them interchangeably. For example, when you talk about ring sizes, you can use either 尺寸 or 尺码. Ring sizes are standardized but they are based on the length -- you measure it by wrapping the measurement tool around the base of your finger. 大小 is more general and casual. You can use 大小 almost on anything that is tangible.
