映 (yìng) is commonly used to refer to the act of reflecting light or images. For example, one might say 屋顶上的太阳把墙上的影子映了出来 (wū dǐng shàng de tài yáng bǎ qiáng shàng de yǐng zi yìng le chū lái) to describe how the sun reflects the shadows on the wall.
