Hi Shiya3! No actually I was referring to this sentence which was added a few days ago according to a user's suggestion: 院子里种着一棵枣树。 [phr] There is a Chinese jujube tree planted in the courtyard.
Not this sentence which had already existed when you made the suggestion: 院子的西面有棵枣树。 [phr] There is a Chinese jujube tree at the west side of the courtyard.

It is appropriate to use 棵 (kē) for counting items when referring to trees or plants, specifically those with a woody stem or trunk. This measure word is commonly used for counting individual trees, shrubs, and other plants such as flowers, grass, and bamboo.
For example, you can say "一棵树" (yī kē shù) to mean "one tree".
