不 (bù) is used to express negation in Chinese. For example, 他不喜欢吃蔬菜 (tā bù xǐhuan chī shūcài) means "He does not like to eat vegetables". It can also be used to express prohibition, as in 不准喝酒 (bù zhǔn hē jiǔ) which means "Drink alcohol is not permitted".
