身高 vs 个子
1. 身高 is more formal. 身高 appears in written, for instance, in a form, side by side with 体重 (Weight). 个子, on the other hand, is only used in spoken Chinese when it refers to one's height. It's mostly interchangeable with 身高, however, when you say 身高, the tone instantly becomes more formal.
For example, these two sentences are both correct, but the first one is more informal than the second: 他因为个子矮遭到同学的讥笑。 vs 他因为身高矮遭到同学的讥笑。
2. In #1, we say mostly interchangeable. That is because sometimes we prefer using 个子 when the word 高 appears in the same phrase/ sentence.
For example, 哥哥比我个子高。It's better to use 个子 here to avoid repetition. If we say 哥哥比我身高高, it's still correct, but there will be two 高, one after other and it doesn't sound very nice.
3. 个子 can be used to refer to a person, 身高 can not used in this way.
Examples:
- 小个子 [n] little chap, small fellow
- 高个子 [n] tall stature; person of high stature

In formal writing, 身高 (shēn gāo) is used to refer to the physical height of a person or object. It is often used in medical contexts, such as when discussing a patient's height in relation to their age or weight.
