How is 前后 (qiánhòu) commonly used in Chinese?

前后 is a compound noun of locality, which is a combination of 前 and 后. 前后 is often used after a noun or a Numeral-Measure word phrase to indicate time (E.g. 1) or position (E.g.2).
E.g.1 九点前后 about nine
E.g.2 我家前后都有院子。 [phr] There are courts both in front of and behind my house.
