姑且 (gū qiě) is an adverb that is used to express a temporary or tentative action or decision. It can also mean "for the time being" or "for now". It is often used when the speaker is unsure or hesitant about something and wants to make a temporary decision or take a temporary action.
Example 1: 姑且按照你的建议去做，如果不行再想其他的办法。(Gū qiě àn zhào nǐ de jiàn yì qù zuò, rú guǒ bù xíng zài xiǎng qí tā de bàn fǎ.) Translation: Let's tentatively follow your suggestion and if it doesn't work, we can think of other solutions.
Example 2: 我姑且相信他的话，但是我还是要做些调查。(Wǒ gū qiě xiāng xìn tā de huà, dàn shì wǒ hái shì yào zuò xiē diào chá.) Translation: I'll temporarily believe what he says, but I still need to do some investigation.
Example 3: 姑且不说这件事，我们先谈谈其他的。(Gū qiě bù shuō zhè jiàn shì, wǒ men xiān tán tán qí tā de.) Translation: Let's not talk about this matter for now, let's discuss something else first.
