万一 (wànyī) is usually used in everyday conversation to express the idea of "just in case; what if". It is used to express the possibility of something happening, even if it is unlikely. For example, 万一今天下雨了,我们该怎么办?(wànyī jīntiān xià yǔ le, wǒmen gāi zěnme bàn?) meaning "What if it rains today, what should we do?". It can also be used to express caution, for example, 万一你走错路了,你该怎么办?(wànyī nǐ zǒu cuò lù le, nǐ gāi zěnme bàn?) meaning "What if you take the wrong way, what should you do?".
