未必 vs 不一定
1. 未必 is formal. 不一定 is informal. Other than this, these two are largely interchangeable.
2. 未必 is an adverb so it cannot be a predicate of a sentence; 不一定 can. For instance, we cannot use 未必 here:
这个设计的原理在理论上说得通，实际应用的时候就不一定了。 The principle of this design can be explained in theory, (but) it might not be the same case when it's applied to use.
