圆规 (yuánguī) refers to a compass, a tool used for drawing circles or measuring distances on a flat surface. It is made up of two arms, one with a pointed end and the other with a pencil or pen attached to it. The pointed end is used as the center point while the pencil or pen creates the circle or line.
Example 1: 画圆需要圆规。(Huà yuán xūyào yuánguī.) To draw circles, one needs a compass.
Example 2: 这把圆规的尺寸可以调节。(Zhè bǎ yuánguī de chǐcùn kěyǐ tiáojié.) The size of this compass can be adjusted.
Example 3: 圆规的使用方法很简单,只需要将尖头放在中心,然后转动另一端就可以画出圆形或直线。(Yuánguī de shǐyòng fāngfǎ hěn jiǎndān, zhǐ xūyào jiāng jiāntóu fàng zài zhōngxīn, ránhòu zhuǎndòng lìng yīduān jiù kěyǐ huà chū yuánxíng.)
The method of using a compass is very simple, just place the pointed end at the center point and then rotate the other end to draw a circle or line.
