The tone of 一 (yī) changes to the second tone (yí) when it precedes a fourth tone (such as in the phrase 一下 yíxià).
The tone of 一 (yī) changes to the fourth tone (yì) When it precedes a first, second or third tone (such as in the phrases -- 一天 yìtiān 一碟yìdié，一晚 yìwǎn)
