冷静 vs 安静

- 冷静 is used to describe a person's mental state at a specific moment, as being calm, cool-headed, imperturbable. The opposite of 冷静 is 激动 (be excited; to excite, to agitate).
- 安静 is used to describe a place or an environment as being quiet and noiseless. 安静 can be used on a person too, but when it's used on a person it refers to the person's personality in general, not just his/her mental state at a specific moment.
