"强人所难" (qiǎng rén suǒ nán) is often used to describe a situation where someone is trying to do something that is beyond their power or ability. For example, you could say: "他要求我改变这种情况，但这是强人所难" (tā yāoqiú wǒ gǎibiàn zhè zhǒng qíngkuàng, dàn zhè shì qiǎngrénsuǒnán) which translates to "He tried to change the situation, but it was beyond his power".
