和 is used to join two nouns or two pronouns. However, when two or more verbs, or adjectives are put together as the subject or object of a sentence, we need to use 和 to join them, instead of 并 or 而.
For example: 我喜欢打篮球和跑步。 [phr] I like playing basketball and jogging.

1. 及 is a conjunction meaning "and" -- a coordinating conjunction that connects nouns or nominal phrases. When three or more items appear, 及 is used before the last item. 及 is also more formal.
2. 跟 and 和 can be conjunction or preposition:
- When used as a preposition, 跟 appears more often in spoken Chinese than 和;
- when used as a conjunction, 和 is more often used than 跟.

和 connects two nouns or pronouns. 且 connects two adjectives, verbs or clauses in a sentence.
E.g.
我和她 I and she
苹果和香蕉 apples and bananas
她聪明且善于言谈。She is clever and good at talking.
这衣服太大了，且价格也太贵。 This garment is too big. Beside, its price is also too high.

When two or more verbs or adjectives are put side by side as the subject/object of a sentence, we use 和.
滑雪和滑冰属于加拿大冬季最流行的户外运动。Skiing and ice-skating belong to the most popular winter outdoor sports in Canada.
