Specific comparison of two things usually expressed with the following:
A 比 B Adj.

1. 今天比昨天冷。(Today is colder than yesterday.)
2. 第十课的语法比第九的语法容易。(Lesson 10's grammar is easier than lesson 9's grammar.)

The above is a basic pattern. There are two more ways in which the comparative construction may be modified.
A) By adding a modifying expression after the adj.
A 比 Adj. 一点儿/得多/多了
B) By adding adverbs 更or 还in front of the adj.
A 比 B 更/还 Adj.
Other patterns may include :
1. A 比 B verb-得-complement
E.g. 他应该比我知道得多。 [phr] He should know more than I do.
2. A verb-得 + 比 B + result of comparison
E.g. 他知道得应该比我多。 [phr] He should know more than I do.
3. A 比 B 早/晚/多/少 verb object/ complement
E.g. 我比你多学了三年。 [phr] I have learned three years more than you.
The negative form of a 比-sentence is formed by adding 不 before 比. The negative form “A不比B...” only shows “A is not more… than B”, but it doesn't necessarily mean “B is more… than A”.
For example, 他不比我高 can possibly mean “he is as tall as me” or “I am taller than him”.
