或是 (huòshì) is used to express the idea of "or, maybe". It is used to present two or more options, and can be used to express uncertainty. For example:
你想去哪里？你可以去公园，或是去购物中心 (nǐ xiǎng qù nǎlǐ? nǐ kěyǐ qù gōngyuán, huòshì qù gòuwù zhōngxīn)
Where do you want to go? You can go to the park, or maybe to the shopping center.
