In this post, we discuss two Chinese verbs: 做出 and 作出.
做出 can be followed by a specific and concrete object or action, e.g. 一副鬼脸、不合适的举动、一道考试题目. These are the things we do by moving our body parts. We can see these actions by our eyes.
In comparison, the nouns following 作出 are usually abstract notions, e.g. 选择、贡献、决定. These are the things we do “mentally”. They cannot be seen by eyes.
*Please also check out the notes on 做 and 作. You might find that helpful too! :)
