In conversation, 似懂非懂 (sì dǒng fēi dǒng) is used to express that someone does not fully understand something. It is often used to describe a situation where someone pretends to understand something, but in reality they do not. For example, someone might say "我似懂非懂,但是我还是不太明白 (wǒ sì dǒng fēi dǒng, dànshì wǒ háishì bù tài míngbái)" which translates to "I do as if I understand, but I still don't quite get it".
