You can use 下边 (xiàbiān) to refer to something that is located below or under something else. For example, you can say:
"请把书放在桌子下边 (qǐng bǎ shū fàng zài zhuōzi xiàbiān) - Please put the book under the table."
When it comes to the pronunciation, both xiàbiān and xiàbian are acceptable.
