It is more appropriate to use 顺畅 when describing smooth and uninterrupted flow, such as traffic or communication. Example sentences:
- 一路上交通很顺畅。The traffic was smooth all the way.
- 我们之间的沟通很顺畅。The communication between us is very smooth.
In comparison, we have two other words that bear similar meanings to 顺畅:
- 通顺: this word means "smooth and fluent" and it is used to describe written texts. For example, 这几句话不太通顺. These few sentences are not very smooth.
- 流利: this word means "fluent, fluently" and it is used to describe one's spoken language. For example, 他说一口流利的中文。He speaks Chinese fluently.
