想不通 (xiǎng bù tōng) is usually used to express that one cannot come to terms with an idea or concept. For example, one might say "我想不通为什么他会这么做？" (wǒ xiǎng bù tōng wèi shén me tā huì zhè me zuò?) which translates to "I can't come round to the idea of why he would do that?".
