为的是 (wèi de shì) is a commonly used phrase in everyday conversation in Chinese. It is used to express the purpose or intention behind an action or decision. It can be translated as "in order to...", "so that...", or "the purpose is...".
For example, if someone asks why you are studying Chinese, you can say "我学中文为的是想去中国旅游" (wǒ xué zhōngwén wèi de shì xiǎng qù zhōngguó lǚyóu) which means "I am studying Chinese in order to travel to China."
Another example is "我每天早起跑步为的是保持健康" (wǒ měitiān zǎoqǐ pǎobù wèi de shì bǎochí jiànkāng) which means "I run every morning in order to stay healthy." Another similar phrase that can be used in place of "为的是" is "为了" (wèi le), which also expresses the purpose or intention behind an action.
