A 居留证 (jūliúzhèng) is a residence permit issued by the Chinese government to foreign nationals who wish to stay in China for a period of time. It is required for any foreigner who wishes to stay in China for more than 180 days. It is also necessary for any foreigner who wishes to work or study in China. The 居留证 must be renewed every year and can be revoked if the holder violates Chinese laws or regulations.
