大约 (dàyuē) is used to express an approximate amount or time. It is used when you are not sure of the exact amount or time, but you have a general idea. For example, if you are asked how long it will take to finish a task, you can say 大约 (dàyuē) 一个小时 (yí gè xiǎoshí). This means that it will take approximately one hour.
In some cases, 大约 (dàyuē) can be used interchangeably with other words such as 差不多 (chàbùduō) or 大概 (dàgài). However, 大约 (dàyuē) is more formal and is used more often in written language.

大约 (dàyuē) is usually used to express an approximate amount or time. For example, one might say 他大约十五岁 (tā dàyuē shíwǔ suì) meaning "He is probably about fifteen years old". It can also be used to express probability, as in 我大约明天会来 (wǒ dàyuē míngtiān huì lái) meaning "I will probably come tomorrow".

大概 VS 大约
1. 大概 can be a noun, adjective or adverb; 大约 is only an adverb.
2. When 大概 and 大约 are both adverbs, they can be used in these two ways:
First, they can be used to estimate number, quantity or time;
Second, they can be used to guess or conjecture.
When they are both adverbs, they are used in basically the same way. The only thing is that 大约 is less frequently used to conjecture compared to 大概, and when it is, it carries a formal tone. For example, when you use 大约, it sounds more formal than when you use 大概 in this sentence below:
E.g. He probably went back to school.
- More formal: 他大约是回学校了。
- More casual and informal:他大概是回学校了。
The meaning is the same.
