经历 vs 经验
Both words can be translated into "experience", but they are quite different.
- 经历 is past event or occurrence that leaves an impression on someone
- 经验 is knowledge or skill gained over a period of time
- 经历 can be a verb as well, while 经验 is only a noun.

经历 (jīnglì) versus 体验 (tǐyàn):

经历 has an emphasis on events or experiences one has gone through. It focuses on the entire course of going through something, especially challenges or life events.

Examples:

他经历了很多困难。 Tā jīnglì le hěn duō kùnnán.
"He has gone through many hardships."

我的工作经历很丰富。Wǒ de gōngzuò jīnglì hěn fēngfù.
"I have rich work experience."

体验 has an emphasis on the personal feeling or perception during an experience.

Examples:

我想体验一下中国文化。Wǒ xiǎng tǐyàn yíxià Zhōngguó wénhuà.
"I want to experience Chinese culture."

这次旅行让我体验到了大自然的美。Zhè cì lǚxíng ràng wǒ tǐyàn dàole dà zìrán de měi.
"This trip let me experience the beauty of nature."
