长江 (cháng jiāng) is a proper noun and should be used as such in a sentence. It should be written in Simplified Chinese characters and should be capitalized. For example, "长江是中国最长的河流 (Cháng Jiāng shì Zhōngguó zuì cháng de héliú) is the longest river in China."
