1. 又 (yòu) can be used to indicate that an action is continuing or repeating:
例如:他又唱歌了。(Tā yòu chàng gē le.) - He sang again.
2. 又 (yòu) can be used to indicate that an action is in addition to something else:
例如:他又买了一双鞋。(Tā yòu mǎi le yī shuāng xié.) - He bought another pair of shoes in addition.

又 (yòu) is not usually used for contrast. 又 (yòu) is used for addition when it is used to indicate that something is being added to what was previously mentioned. For example, 她又买了一双鞋 (tā yòu mǎi le yī shuāng xié) meaning "She bought another pair of shoes (in addition to what she already had)".
