I am invited to a wedding of a Chinese couple, this will happen in the US - but I think they are celebrating in a traditional way and I was wondering what would be a typical gift they could expect? What would be typically be given in China?
We will meet at a Chinese restaurant and it will be the first such wedding I will attend.

I think it's the cash gift, which is the typical gift in current Chinese wedding.

First, you'd better buy a red envelope printed with "囍" or lovely couples.

Second, about the money, you could give 200,400, 600, 800 or 1000, according to the relationship between you and your friends.

Third, don't forget write your name on the envelope.
