In this entry, 会 is an auxiliary verb expressing two aspects of meanings: 1) ability, 2) possibility.

- When 会 expresses ability, it must be an ability or skill that is acquired through learning:
E.g.
会开车, can drive (Driving is skill that is acquired through learning.)
会游泳,can swim (Swimming is a skill that is acquired through learning.)
会说阿拉伯语, can speak Arabic (Speaking a language is a skill that is acquired through learning.)
* 会 can be replaced by 能 in the above three examples, however, in this meaning, 会 is far more often used.

- When 会 expresses possibility, it's very subjective. Sometimes it's the speaker's estimation:
E.g. 明天也许会下雨。 It may rain tomorrow.

能 (neng2) can also express ability and possibility, but it's used differently. Please check out our explanation on 能.
