I know you can set a minimum number of cards but is there a way to set a maximum (other than using filters?)

To elaborate, I have several lists, each with 40-75 words. I can set filters, or make new lists, in order to practice 20 or 30 words at a time. Once I finish memorizing a list, the desktop application pulls the minimum number of cards as determined by me.
However, for whatever reason, if you reset the cards on the desktop, it will take all available cards from the website instead of the minimum amount. This gets kind of annoying when you want to review older cards, as you have to keep going back and making lists, and trying to make them random takes that much more time. So is there a way to set a maximum number of cards the desktop or android program pulls from available cards on the website? It would be great to have the option to randomly select 10, 20, or however many cards from the list of available words. Maybe this is possible and I am just not using the program correctly, and if so I hope someone can teach me how to do this! Thierry

There is no setting for "Maximum number of cards". The number is automatically limited to 20 for non paying users. In case fro paying users the number of cards on the device is unlimited. There is a trick you could use to limit the number as:
- Each time a Update Cards process is done a maximum of 100 cards will be loaded to the device, you may use this to limit the number of cards you see on the device. The 100 cards are a fixed number to optimize the total data volume sent (as it includes audio) and can not be changed. - We took some time to answer this question as we wanted to make sure that the server will select the oldest cards first, that is the cards which were not studied for the longest time will be included into the first 100 cards sent to the device in case of "Update Cards". Each time a "Update Cards" is done, cards will be added to the ones already on the phone. So if you just want to have 100 to learn, then you will need to "Update Cards" twice: 1 time to store the current learning status on the server, then you reset all cards on the phone and then the next "Update Cards" will load the 100 oldest cards. It is very important that you Update Cards before resetting the cards on the phone as otherwise all the data regarding the learning progress will be lost! |
