HI There appears to be an error with one of the flash cards.

Wei 4th tone 喂  So while this is considered a 4th tone word often used as a phone greeting. The issue is that it is teaching you an incorrect tone because the correct tone used with this word when answering the phone is 2nd Tone. Not 4th

You are right the normal pronunciation of wei is in the 4th tone (meaning Hello!). As already included in the translation in the on-line dictionary  the tone changes when using it in answering the phone.
